I’m digital immigrant; I recently learned the internet by using email and other new technology. It makes my life easier; I can print out pictures from digital camera. I still use photo album to store pictures instead of digital album. As Digital Immigrants learner,

           I’m still struggling with lot of problems when I use computer, new technology keep developing and I keep changing myself to adapt it. I can use email or messenger to communicate with other people. Besides that, I’m far behind from all other new gadgets (new technology things) especially computer.

           Marc Prensky has pointed out the important of new technology in this generation, most of young students now can use other term of language to communicate with friends, and I would consider that as modern language. They think and process information fundamentally differently from their predecessors (Artcile I, page 1). The technology language has become a part of their daily life. Young students have grown up with the Internet, and are accustomed to the entire world being only a mouse click away. However, the young students now have lost the ability of reading, thinking (Article II, page 5). This is so dangerous because relying too much on technology will make students who are born digital losing skills, knowledge and experience of many segments of society. Teachers now have to figure out how to combine old teaching method with new teaching method (Digital related) to help students using their own skills, organization.

           I remember that my family had a computer back in 1998; we rarely used it because we did not know much about it, we used it as a decoration puzzle in living room. Things started to change when the computer connected to the internet via phone line, it was so good because we can read news and listen to online radio. The connection speed was too slow and hard to connect the internet. It was also so annoying because no one could call us when they need to discuss or talk about something. My mom had to set a specific time at night to use the internet to avoid a congestion of the phone line during day time.

            I use Charter Communication Services as my internet provider; they came to set up my home network which includes the router and other computer in house. I usually do my online course and other course in the morning after taking my boy to school. I spend couple hours to do my home work and am ready go to work. I start do my homework again after work, and I was up late sometime to finish what need to be done.

           Communicate effectively and adapting new technology are the skills that I would like all educators to have.
